This class explores the concept of environmental hospice, a framework that invites us to accompany the Earth and its life systems with presence, care, and love in the face of irreversible climate change. Drawing from Jewish teachings on death, dying, grief, and teshuvah, we will reflect on how ancient wisdom can help us meet the climate crisis not only with urgency, but with dignity, ritual, and moral clarity. Dr. Stephanie Gray is a grassroots organizer, ritualist, and scholar based on Quapaw, Osage, and Caddo land in Central Arkansas. They teach internationally to build collective knowledge to politicize, transform, and inspire communities into collective action. They are the Spiritual Leader of Taste of Olam Haba, a pluralistic Jewish community. They have a forthcoming chapter in Religion, Politics and the New Materialism: Philosophical Perspectives, published by Palgrave. They are currently a Research Fellow with the Global Centre for Advanced Studies.
