This video shows Fluid in Perinephric space and BPH ( Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy.  The perinephric spaces consist of the subcapsular, perirenal, anterior, and posterior pararenal spaces. Fluid may collect in one or more of these compartments; this can be readily demonstrated by cross-sectional imaging, particularly computed tomography (CT).  The kidneys are considered “retroperitoneal” organs, which means they sit behind a lining in the abdominal cavity, unlike all other abdominal organs.  The retroperitoneal space is bounded by the posterior parietal peritoneum anteriorly and the lumbar spine posteriorly. The retroperitoneal space contains the kidneys, adrenal glands, pancreas, nerve roots, lymph nodes, abdominal aorta, and inferior vena cava.  Fluid collections around the kidneys on cross-sectional imaging may be caused by urine, blood, pus, lymph, or plasma.  Stranding of the perinephric fat is a common finding, particularly among older patients. The stranding likely represents fluid that collects within the bridging septa of the perinephric fat as a result of increased lymphatic pressure.  The perirenal space is the largest of the three divisions of the retroperitoneum and is the most easily identified. It contains the kidneys, renal vessels, proximal collecting systems, adrenal glands, and an adequate amount of fat to allow identification on CT scanning.  Most people with hydronephrosis will have a procedure called catheterization to drain the urine from their kidneys. Depending on the underlying cause, medication or surgery may be needed afterward to correct the problem.  Hydronephrosis is the swelling of one or both kidneys. Kidney swelling happens when urine can't drain from a kidney and builds up in the kidney as a result. This can occur from a blockage in the tubes that drain urine from the kidneys (ureters) or from an anatomical defect that doesn't allow urine to drain properly.  While a degree of symmetric bilateral perinephric stranding is common, particularly in the elderly, asymmetric or unilateral perinephric stranding is an important sign of renal inflammation or of acute obstruction. As such, it is seen in conditions such as acute pyelonephritis and ureteric calculi.  Each kidney is held in place by connective tissue, called renal fascia, and is surrounded by a thick layer of adipose tissue, called perirenal fat, which helps to protect it. A tough, fibrous, connective tissue renal capsule closely envelopes each kidney and provides support for the soft tissue that is inside.  The first sign of kidney problems. Any family history of prostate problems or any abnormalities with your testicles may raise your risk of BPH. Men who've had their testicles removed at a young age don't develop BPH.  Benign prostatic hyperplasia—also called BPH—is a condition in men in which the prostate gland is enlarged and not cancerous. Benign prostatic hyperplasia is also called benign prostatic hypertrophy or benign prostatic obstruction. The prostate goes through two main growth periods as a man ages.  BPH is by definition an enlarged prostate, and no, because the cause is not an infection/inflammation like prostatitis. However, not all enlarged prostates are due to BPH.
