The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is the oldest and largest maritime museum in Canada, located in downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia. It houses a collection of over 30,000 artifacts, including 70 small craft and the CSS Acadia, a 180-foot steam-powered hydrographic survey ship launched in 1913. What You Can See & Do Titanic Exhibit: Halifax played a key role in the aftermath of the Titanic disaster. The museum’s permanent exhibit tells the story of the ship’s creation and demise, highlighting Halifax’s involvement in recovering victims. Battle of the Atlantic: Learn about the Canadian and Norwegian Merchant Navy’s contributions during World War II. Mi’kmaw Heritage Exhibit: A unique exhibit showcasing the connection between the Mi’kmaw people and the waters of Mi’kma’ki. Historic Ship Models & Portraits: The museum has Canada’s largest collection of ship portraits and models, including original production models from the television show Theodore Tugboat. Restored Vessels: The museum features ongoing restoration projects, including the 1937 C-class sloop Whim and the small schooner Hebridee II.
