MarineSci Camp GeoTenerife Marine Science Training Camp in association with the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO-CSIC). Includes residential onboard research training with the team responsible for the ongoing monitoring of underwater volcanoes in the Canary Islands. This is an exceptional opportunity for undergraduates, recent graduates or early career scientists to learn a range of highly transferrable skills onboard Angeles Alvariño, the Institute’s research vessel: acquisition and processing of physical-chemical data with oceanographic rosette (Matlab) acquisition of biogeochemical samples with in situ samples of water (niskin bottles - Rosette) acquisition and processing of samples of dissolved oxygen, inorganic nutrients, DIC, POC, DNA Masterclasses from leading Canary Island experts Plus additional, transferrable skills: SciComm (Social Media; News, blogs and press releases; Video editing) Collaborative research for GeoTenerife’s ongoing VolcanoStories project Students join us in Tenerife for basic training and then join the Oceanographic team onboard, two at a time in rotation, while the other four participate in our collaborative research and flex their freshly-acquired SciComm skills.
