A LEGEND in the "Building of the ARC" that never was... Master Hunter... Synoptically speaking, ARC OF A DIVER was Master Winwood's LAST SHOT IN THE DARK... It has been perceived by many as a "do or die" moment... Consequently, he wanted to be the sole "overseer" of all aspects of the "Building of the ARC"... The monumental success of the result of his construction speaks for itself and stands TALL within ROCK HISTORY... With all that said, for the majority of his illustrious career, Master Winwood had always had a partner in-crime... He has never been known as the primary lyricist in any of the albums he was involved in... Thus, around 1978, losing Master Capaldi to the jungles of the Amazon, he needed a new partner to compose with, especially if "Winwood's ARC" was to take the world by storm... As most of us know by now, Master Stanshall was initially the "go to guy" at the time... while ultimately contacted through Master Morrison, it was Will Jennings who was brought in... The rest was truly HISTORY... However yet again, I must insist on putting another spanner in the works... Actually, most possibly, before everyone else, Master Winwood decided to meet with Master Hunter as his potential lyricist for his MODUS OPERANDI... Master Hunter being one of the most influential lyricists within the JAM-BAND scene - having been one of the masterminds behind the legend of the GRATEFUL DEAD... I mean I can only surmise that Master Winwood wanted to carry on working with another established legendary Rock lyricist akin to Master Capaldi... Even though a few ideas were tossed around between them, none got as far past the drawing board... As the first leg of the 1983 tour, the Firenze gig keeps on giving, I can't stop thinking... "What could have been...?" But there are many other interpretations... Enjoy Loud...
