Hi everyone, this video is a teaser of my guitar solo performance with the loop pedal at the Guatemala jazz Festival on March 19th 2024. I have been playing that concept of “Spontaneous compositions with the loop pedal” for 15 years now, since my time in New York where I have developed this fusion jazz style. All this music is fully improvised on stage but of course it is not always pure novelties. Many of those guitar riffs come from previous practice home or during live performances, but the way I structure the sequences and the melodies I create spontaneously is always different concerts to concerts. I basically play "as it comes" following the flow. For this concert I improvised 6 pieces, the first, third and last were completely new, and the second, fourth and fifth have been played before at different tempo or with different melodies. My goal is always to spontaneously creating a kind of easy listening music material that sound like written compositions, but is in fact completely created in the very present moment on stage. So to achieve that, I always have to really focus on having something deep to say musically, and manage live the construction of the music with the looper and create melodic ideas to get a profound musical sound and high level jazz improvisation on the top of it. Nothing is pre-recorded of synchronize with the loop pedal. To get this innovative sound, I use a simple Boss loop station RC-50, an Ernie Ball volume pedal, a Micro POG Harmonizer pedal and a Rocktron Xpression effects processor, and I play on a custom made Jacobacci guitar I have since age of 16.
