Here are my thoughts and some of my photos from the Sears KS Super and the kit lens originally included with the camera. I forgot to mention that the camera is Aperture Priority, meaning that you set the aperture and the camera chooses the shutter speed. I think it is a good entry level SLR camera. It is not anything special and is very simple to use. It is essentially a high-end point and shoot. It has a shutter speed rage of 1 second to 1/500th plus bulb. One big disadvantage to this camera is its plastic construction. The advance lever and ASA selection dial feel very cheap and flimsy. However, it does offer the advantages of TTL metering, interchangeable lenses, manual focus, and autoexposure. It is a good student camera with an excellent lineup of lenses for it, if you are willing to track down the Pentax lenses. On the subject of lenses, the camera comes with a 50mm f2 Auto Sears lens. The lens is one of the smallest 50mm lenses I own, and also the lightest. This is due to its plastic construction. Some people hate this, but I do not mind. It still feels very sturdy. It does vignette a little, and sometimes the focus can be off, but it is still a very fun lens to use.
