The Kyosho Melody flies again – this time with a brushless spinner motor setup due to the limited room in the nose for a standard brushless unit. Specs as follows: Motor/Prop – Tahmazo Apollo with 7x4.5 prop ESC – Hobbyking HK-20A LiPo – Turnigy Nanotech 3s 950mah 25-50C discharge TX – Radiomaster Pocket CC2500 RX – Radiomaster R84 The motor, ESC and battery setup was transplanted from my Mini Challenger as these little spinner (Apollo) motors from Tahmazo are getting hard to find ☹ A careful cut was made on the tough polypropylene nose cone and a plywood mounting plate glued in with Loctite All Plastic adhesive. 55g of lead was needed in the nose to balance which brought the total weight of the model to 688g. The metal spinner motor blended with the fuselage shape perfectly and the model climbs at half throttle. I didn’t have to use any power at all with the available slope lift and the LiPo still registered 74% after an hour’s flight! After a launch at the edge of the cliff, I decided to land at the field above the road. It was a bit tricky walking backwards, ducking under trees, climbing a rock face, crossing a road and then finally up some steps to the landing field whilst flying the model all this time... Thanks for watching!
