Today I visited Harrods in Knightsbridge, London to experience one of the most famous afternoon teas in the UK. Founded in 1849, Harrods is one of the world’s most iconic department stores, and inside it sits The Georgian — a historic Edwardian dining room that has been serving afternoon tea for over a century. Afternoon tea itself dates back to the 1840s, when it was introduced as a light meal to bridge the long gap between lunch and dinner. At Harrods, that simple tradition has been elevated into a full luxury experience. I tried the full afternoon tea selection, including: – Freshly prepared finger sandwiches – Warm scones with clotted cream and jam – A selection of beautifully presented pastries and cakes – Loose leaf tea, served in traditional pots The setting is grand but relaxed, with chandeliers, wood panelling and a real sense of London history. Unlike some of the more formal hotel teas, Harrods strikes a balance between indulgence and accessibility. So the big question — is Harrods afternoon tea worth it? And how does it compare to other famous London venues? Here’s my honest review.
