The Preeminence of Jesus Christ Today

In this evening's message Brother Michael Torgersen goes through Colossians 1:9-18, teaching on the preeminence of Jesus Christ in the christian life today. He begins by explaining the nature of the christian life -- that it is a supernatural life from God in which believers are to grow in the knowledge of God in practical sanctification abounding in fruitfulness of character and good works through the power of God the Holy Spirit; following the text he continues by looking at what God has accomplished in our salvation -- that God has qualified us for a heavenly inheritance, has delivered us from the power of darkness, has conveyed us into the Kingdom of His beloved Son whose blood has redeemed us and provided for the forgiveness of our sins. From here Brother Torgersen looks at the position of the Lord Jesus Christ as the image of God, as creator and sustainer of all things, as the head of the church, and as the firstborn from the dead, concluding with the text that Jesus Christ is to have the preeminence in all things throughout eternity and that He alone deserves first place in our lives and in our worship.
