A quiet, gated community for people 55 years and older turned into a crime scene when a woman shot a man in the face with a flare gun during an argument, Suffolk County police said. Kathleen Schuman was arrested following the shooting at Belmont Vistas 55, an older community where Schuman and the victim live. Police charged Schuman with second-degree assault but have not revealed what led to the shooting.
