(13 Dec 2007) HEADLINE: Baby Grace mom, boyfriend charged with murder (childs-remains) CAPTION: A couple accused of beating their toddler to death, tucking her body in a plastic box and dumping it in Galveston Bay were indicted Wednesday on charges of capital murder. (Dec. 13) [Notes:ANCHOR VOICE] [Notes:stills of trenor and zeigler] Kimberly Trenor (tray-nor) and Royce Zeigler are now facing capital murder charges in Texas. [Notes:sketch of baby grace] Trenor is the mother of Baby Grace. Zeigler - her husband. [Notes:bin at newser, various of bay] In October, the little girl's body was found in a blue plastic storage bin when it washed ashore on Galveston Bay and went unidentified for weeks. Police posted a sketch artist's image of the girl hoping someone would recognize her [Notes:slow dissolve from sketch of baby grace to photo of sawyers] Investigators eventually identified the body as 2-year-old Riley Ann Sawyers. That's when Trenor and Zeigler were first arrested. [Notes:wide of jail] The two were charged with tampering with evidence and injury to a child. But after DNA testing to prove the toddler's identity, the charges were upgraded. [Notes:trenor and zeigler, add sawyers] Trenor told authorities she and Zeigler beat and tortured the little girl to death in July. [Notes:various of sawyers] Trenor's attorney says Ziegler wanted his client to spank her daughter with a belt for not saying "please" and "yes, sir." The beating happened when Zeigler stayed home from work to make sure his plan was being followed. [Notes:various of bay] She told authorities they hid the body in a shed for two months, then dumped it in the Bay. Officials say they haven't decided whether to seek the death penalty.
