(In this interview, I speak with the director of March for Life UK @marchforlifeuk about psychological and human considerations surrounding abortion, as seen through clinical experience and personal reflection. The discussion draws on a psychotherapeutic perspective informed by a Catholic understanding of the human person, examining how questions of meaning, responsibility, grief, and relationship are often encountered in therapeutic contexts following abortion. We consider areas where contemporary psychology can struggle to address these experiences in a coherent or integrated way. I also speak about my involvement with Rachel’s Vineyard (https://www.rachelsvineyard.org.uk/), a retreat-based ministry offering psychological and spiritual support to individuals and couples affected by abortion. This work has shaped my understanding of the long-term emotional and relational challenges that can arise, for both women and men. Topics discussed include: Psychotherapy from a Catholic perspective Psychological experiences reported by women following abortion The often overlooked experiences of men Grief, meaning, and relational disruption Support, healing, and recovery Thoughtful and constructive ways individuals can engage in the pro-life cause The interview was originally published on the March for Life UK channel / @marchforlifeuk ) I encourage viewers to visit their channel to learn more about their educational work and public engagement.
