During the ice season of 2024; Colby, Trey and Nick adventured into Michigan's Upper Peninsula from southern Wisconsin during a weekend to chase jumbo perch and trophy size eater walleyes. Conditions were brutally cold with day highs of 11℉, 30 mph wind gusts and snow flurries on and off. Lake Gogebic is 13,380 acres of water, 36 miles of shoreline and has a maximum depth of 38ft. This was the first time for Colby and Nick to ice fish Lake Gogebic while Trey had solo fished it once prior to this weekend trip. For the most part, the lake was easy to learn and the guys were able to stay on active fish daily. Schools of jumbo perch tended to stage on mud flats in the deep depths of the lake mid-day. Trophy size eater walleyes moved into the shallows at dusk to night to activity feed adjacent to major weed structure lines. The guys stayed versatile in fishing techniques, changed lure presentations, fishing locations and fishing depths to stay on active feeding fish throughout each day.
