Speaker Bio: Vali Marszalek is a Director at Forvis Mazars, specializing in ESG and sustainability advisory, with a focus on EU regulations, including CSRD/ESRS and Pay Transparency Directive. She leads projects such as Double Materiality Assessments, ESRS Gap Analyses, EU Taxonomy alignment, Carbon Footprint (Scopes 1, 2, 3), Net Zero Strategies, Climate Risk Assessments, Sustainability Strategies, Gender Equality Policies, and ESRS Reporting. Vali was a member of the Croatian national working group for the transposition of CSRD into the Croatian law. Vali has over 10 years of career experience in sustainability. Her expertise is in social impact and good governance, with a strong focus on human rights, ethics, anti-corruption, gender equality, and equal pay for equal work. She is a Gender Audit Certified Facilitator for the ILO Participatory Gender Audit (PGA) Methodology and a Certified Impact Auditor for social auditing and verification of ISO 26000 self-declarations. Vali is a member of the Working Group on EU Pay Transparency Directive at the American Chamber of Commerce in Croatia. From 2016 to 2022, she served as the Executive Director of the Global Compact Network Croatia and was also a member of the UN Global Compact Expert Network, a UN Global Compact advisory body responsible for strategy and ensuring the relevance of the UN Global Compact program portfolio. Today, she is actively involved in the initiative, serving as the President of the Board of Directors of the Global Compact Network Croatia. In her role at UN Global Compact, she ran different accelerator programmes for businesses, including two climate-focused accelerator programmes for setting climate goals in accordance with SBTi requirements. She also ran three rounds of Target Gender Equality, an accelerator programme focused on gender equality and Women´s Empowerment Principles (WEPs). Since 2023, she has been teaching Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at the Rochester Institute of Technology – RIT Croatia. Her course explores ethical principles in business at both macro and micro levels, with a strong focus on fostering ethical leadership within organizations. Vali holds a certificate in Circular Economy and Sustainability Strategies from Cambridge Judge Business School. As of recently, she is a Member of the IISB Sustainability Council at ISCEA – International Supply Chain Education Alliance, a role in which she will be focusing on supply chain management.
