Join us for a peaceful day trip to Catalina Island, a quick ferry ride from Long Beach to the charming town of Avalon. We explored the harbor, took a scenic mountain tour, walked to the historic Casino building, swam in the sea, and caught a breathtaking sunset on the return. It wasn’t meant to be a vlog... but the island had other plans. 🌴 Adventure is out there, and we’re taking you along for the ride. Tips for Visiting Avalon – Catalina Island Book Your Ferry Early Catalina Express is the most common way to get there from Long Beach, San Pedro, or Dana Point. Ferries fill up fast, especially on weekends and holidays. Book ahead! Rent a Golf Cart (or Take a Tour) Cars are limited on the island. Golf cart rentals are popular for exploring Avalon, but they can sell out early in the day. Alternatively, guided tours will take you to great scenic overlooks without the stress of driving. Pack for Sun & Sea Even if you’re only visiting for the day, be sure to bring sunscreen, a swimsuit, and a towel. There are lockers for rent near the port. The harbor is beautiful for swimming, and the beaches are small but charming. Explore on Foot Avalon is very walkable. From the harbor to the Casino to little shops and cafes, you’ll find plenty just by strolling. Wear comfy shoes! Don’t Skip the Casino (Even If You Don’t Gamble) It’s not a gambling hall! The Catalina Casino is a historic Art Deco building with a theater, ballroom, and amazing architecture. Take a tour if you have time. Watch for Wildlife Keep your eyes open for dolphins during the ferry ride, flying fish near the island, and falconers or other interesting local sights along the shore. Stay the Night (If You Can) Avalon is peaceful after the day-trippers leave. If your schedule allows, spending a night on the island gives you time to relax, dine, and enjoy the quiet.
