20130825 Hermanus Camino Day 5 Walk

Distance Approximately 14 Km's All good things come to an end. As you embark on the final day of the Hermanus Camino, you walk away from the fynbos, mountains, farmlands and vineyards and into the Walker Bay Nature Reserve on a meandering jeep track through the sand dunes. After a quick scramble up a 15-meter high dune you are welcomed by one of the most pristine beaches along the south African Coastline. We make our way along the stretch of beach, known a "Die Plaat" with Hermanus and the mountains in full view. After we cross the Klein River mouth, we are no more than 5 kilometers away, as the crow flies, from where the very same river starts it's 137 kilometer journey to the Atlantic ocean. Once off the beach, we join the picturesque cliff path walk all the way to town center of Hermanus, finishing up at the Burgundy Restaurant for a meal and ice-cold Old Harbour beer! This brings us to the end of the Hermanus Camino. We will transport you back to your cars at High Season Farm where you can continue on your journey as you walk The Way through Life after a wonderful week of introspection, appreciation of nature and self-discovery.
