Quarantine: Biosecurity in the Tasmania Wilderness World Heritage Area (TWWHA)

This video looks at the role that Quarantine plays in protecting our environment from pest, weeds and pathogens. Tasmania is a place of immense natural beauty and ecological importance. One of the reasons that this area is so unique is that many of the weeds, pests and pathogens that have caused environmental degradation elsewhere in the world, have not become established due to our remoteness. But the threat is still there, and one dirty boot, tent peg or kayak can cause radical change to the pristine places in our State. This video series shows what you can do to help reduce the spread of threats to TWWHA and other remote and sensitive areas in Tasmania. Sabatino Cesile from Biosecurity Tasmania speaks about the shared responsibility we have in helping to keep weeds, pathogens and pests out of our State and how we can do our part. Some of the biggest threats can come from gear that hasn't been Checked, Cleaned, (Disinfected) or Dried after using in another part of the state, country or overseas.
