Haslemere Festival 2019 17/05/2019 The Queen's Royal Regiment History. The Queen's is the oldest and most decorated English Infantry Regiment in the British Army, having formed in 1661. This talk will cover its formation, growth, development and achievements to the present day as it is now amalgamated with the Hampshire Regiment to form The Princess of Wales Royal Regiment. John Sandy joined the Queen's Royal Regiment in 1949. In 1956 he joined HM Prison Service and has been Governor of three prisons and a member of The Prison Board. Ian Chatsfield served with 5th Battalion The Queen's Royal Regiment (Territorial) and was appointed Curator of the Queen's and East Surrey's Regimental Museum. He has led three Battlefield Tours covering the Regiment's involvement in the 1914/18 War.
