Istanbul Eminonu Gulhane walking tour - gülhane parkı Gülhane Park is a historical urban park in the Eminönü district of Istanbul, Turkey ; it is adjacent to and on the grounds of the Topkapı Palace. The south entrance of the park sports one of the larger gates of the palace. It is the oldest and one of the most expansive public parks in Istanbul Walking in old Sirkeci neighborhood can definitely be fascinating and exciting anytime, Gülhane is also a historical place that lies to Sarayburnu landscape view. Park was the outer garden of Topkapi Palace during the Ottoman Empire and contained a grove and rose gardens. It was arranged in the time of the Istanbul sherman, operator Cemil Pasha (Topuzlu), and turned into a park in 1912 and opened to the public. Its total area is about 163 acres . At the entrance of the park, on the right, there are the busts of the mayors and the mayors of Istanbul. A tree-lined road passes through the middle of the park . There are resting places and a playground on the right and left of this road . There is a statue of Aşık Veysel on the right of the slope that curves down towards the Bosphorus , and there is the Goths Column from the Romans at the top towards the end of the slope . Sarayburnu Park part was formerly connected to the main park by a bridge over the Sirkeci Railway line . This part was later separated from the park by the coastal road (1958). In the Sarayburnu part, there is the first statue of Atatürk erected after the Republic (3 October 1926). The statue was made by the Australian architect Kripel. Atatürk showed the Latin letters to the public for the first time in this park on September 1, 1928. While Atatürk's body was sent to Ankara , the last ceremony in Istanbul was held on 19 November 1938 in the Sarayburnu section of Gülhane Park.
