Securing sustainable funding for investigative journalism is tougher than ever, with some traditional funding sources shifting and global support shrinking. To help journalism organizations navigate these challenges, GIJN is hosting a webinar on innovative fundraising strategies. This session will offer journalists and media managers practical insights and actionable advice on building financial resilience, so they can keep producing hard-hitting investigative reporting. This GIJN webinar shows attendees how to diversify revenue streams, approach funders while safeguarding editorial independence, and adapt to the evolving funding landscape. The panel brings together three top experts with deep experience in media fundraising, business strategy, and philanthropic support for journalism, ready to share their knowledge and real-world strategies. Pradeep Gairola is vice president and business head at The Hindu, one of India’s leading newspapers, where he oversees digital transformation and business strategy. His expertise lies in implementing successful subscription models and innovative advertising strategies that support quality journalism. Bridget Gallagher provides fundraising strategy, implementation assistance, and counsel to US and international clients working in media, information access, and civic participation. A veteran of the nonprofit sector, Bridget launched Gallagher Group LLC in 2010. Her clients include content producers and broadcasters, media trainers and development organizations, think tanks and universities, from startup to established institution. Willem Lenders is the program manager at Limelight Foundation and co-chair of the Journalism Funders Forum (JFF). With extensive experience in philanthropy for journalism, he provides valuable insight into how donors evaluate funding applications and the key role strong funder-media relationships play in sustaining investigative reporting. The moderator is Francisca Skoknic, an accomplished investigative journalist from Chile. Skoknic is the co-founder and editor of LaBot, a digital media outlet known for its innovative approach to news delivery. She brings a wealth of experience in investigative reporting and newsroom management. ----------------------- The Global Investigative Journalism Network is an international association of journalism organizations that support the training and sharing of information among investigative and data journalists—with special attention to those from repressive regimes and marginalized communities.
