November 19, 1993 - In just his eighth game as a Piston, less than two months after the Spurs sent him north in a swap for Dennis Rodman, Sean Elliott came through with a statement performance against his former team. Playing 43 minutes, Elliott scored 20 points on an efficient 8-of-13 showing from the field in a 95-86 Pistons win. Tacking on five assists, Elliott eluded Rodman with surprising ease, additionally leaving Rodman airborne following a series of pump-fakes and jabs. Elliott's performance came in the midst of a five-game stretch in which he averaged 22 points per game and shot 50 percent from three. The success was short-lived. As Elliott continued to deal with a kidney ailment behind the scenes, his on-court production began to suffer, and his fit in Detroit wavered. The Pistons attempted to deal Elliott to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Robert Horry prior to the 1994 trade deadline. However, questions regarding Elliott's physical health (largely unknown to the public at the time) resulted in the Rockets sending Elliott back to Detroit. Elliott's Pistons career last one season, with Detroit sending him back to San Antonio in exchange for Bill Curley and a second round pick (Charles O'Bannon). After averaging a career-low 12.1 points in Detroit, Elliott returned to his all-star form in San Antonio, maxing out as a 20-point-per-game scorer in 1996.
