This video provides a further illustration of the impact of heavy 40mm of rainfall on the watercourses, mill pond and culvert in and around Prudhoe Castle, Northumberland. The flows contain sewage overflows from the towns Station Road sewerage network which are discharged into the stream from outfall 2302. Other areas covered are Beaumont Terrace and the railway station. It has been agreed that the Station Road sewer can accommodate an additional 1,200 litres per minute from the recently passed town centre redevelopment. These additional flows will also be discharged at outfall 2302 and into the culvert. This will increase the pressure on the struggling culvert. None of the current surface water runoff from the redevelopment site flows directly to the culvert, therefore the 1,200l/pm will be additional to the current flows.
