In this lecture, we explore the structure of bones, an important topic from Class 11 Biology (2025 new syllabus). Bones are living, dynamic organs that form the framework of the human body. They provide support, protection, movement, blood cell production, and mineral storage. Each bone is made up of specialized connective tissue strengthened with calcium salts. The outer surface of the bone is covered by a tough membrane called the periosteum, which contains nerves and blood vessels. Under the periosteum lies the compact bone, a hard and dense layer that gives strength and rigidity. Inside the bone is the spongy bone, which contains small spaces filled with bone marrow. There are two types of bone marrow: Red bone marrow: produces red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Yellow bone marrow: mainly stores fat and can convert into red marrow when needed. Bones are made of specialized cells: Osteoblasts: bone-forming cells. Osteocytes: mature bone cells that maintain bone tissue. Osteoclasts: bone-resorbing cells that break down bone tissue. The internal structure of compact bone consists of osteons or Haversian systems, which are cylindrical units containing blood vessels and nerves. These systems help in nutrient supply and waste removal, keeping bones healthy and strong. Understanding the structure of bones helps students learn how the skeletal system supports the body, protects vital organs, and works with muscles to produce movement. #Class11Biology #HumanSkeletalSystem #StructureOfBones #BiologyLecture #FScBiology #ScienceTeachingsZone #Biology2025 #MuscularSystem #SkeletalSystem #BiologyForStudents #InterBiology #BiologyClass11
