Cochlear implantation improves voice recognition and communication for patients with severe to profound hearing loss. Today, adult patients generally receive an implant for one ear, which still makes understanding words against a noisy background difficult and makes any sound localization impossible. The Digisonic® SP Binaural implant is the first and only solution that allows you to hear from both ears (binaural hearing). Like bilateral implantation (an implant in each ear), this implant system enables you to perceive sound in stereo. With the binaural implant system sound signals are detected and processed simultaneously in both ears. This system makes it easier for you to locate the source of a sound and thus to better understand speech in both a noisy and a quiet environment.
