In this video press release, Assembly Regulatory Oversight Committee Chairman Reed Gusciora (D-Mercer), Vice-Chairman Tim Eustace (D-Bergen) and Assembly Military and Veterans’ Affairs Committee Chairwoman Cleopatra G. Tucker (D-Essex) discuss a package of three bills that would align New Jersey’s medical marijuana program with legislative intent, making it work better for patients with severe illnesses who rely on it for medical relief. The first bill (A-3726) would add post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to the list of debilitating medical conditions that would qualify a patient to participate in the state’s medical marijuana program. The second bill (A-4286) would revise the New Jersey Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Act to authorize an alternative treatment center to transfer to another alternative treatment center any excess inventory of: marijuana seeds, seedlings, or paraphernalia; marijuana plants; or marijuana packaged for use by qualifying patients in any form authorized by law. The third bill (ACR-224) would require the state Department of Health to revise certain regulations concerning New Jersey’s medical marijuana program because they are not consistent with the legislature’s original intent for the law and has placed undue burdens on patients.
