There would be beautiful Monarchs, Painted Ladies and a scattering of white and yellow butterflies. I would watch them glide and communicate with each other so peacefully and flowing with the rhythm of nature. I noticed how their movements resembled a beautiful majestic Dance of Life and Dance of Nature. If you are very quiet, insects and plants will speak to you. Certain times I could tap into the frequencies of the butterflies and receive messages. Because of the chemical spraying and especially after the installation of 5-G, almost all the butterflies (and birds and bees) have disappeared from my backyard. Dance of the Butterflies is a reminder to humanity asking the question “are we being considerate and consciously doing the right thing for Mother Earth and all its inhabitants. Originally I had intended to write an instrumental suite with three sections for my brother Edwing who had crossed over from this plane. I had planned on a slow section, followed by a mellow middle section, then a slightly heavier jazz section. The first section became Paper to Strings Part 1, both an instrumental and a vocal version. I had already written the chord changes to the middle section. One sunny afternoon as I was working on how to intertwine different melodies for Peter (sax) and Mike (guitar) on this section, the phrase "Dance of the Butterflies" popped up. Then words just started flowing and the middle section of the original instrumental Suite for Edwing became the song Dance of the Butterflies. I knew I had to add Winston on piano for this song. Winston had played many gigs with Edwing and played the kind of jazz that my brother had played. So the original idea of a 3-part Suite for Edwing became a 2-part tribute to him (Paper to Strings Part 1 & Part 2). I don't think my brother would have minded me adding words to this section and I think he would have liked this song.
