My dad came to town—his first visit since I moved to Los Angeles more than twenty years ago. Our relationship has had its moments of strain over the years, shaped by missed signals, different points of view, and the quiet weight we both carried from a complicated childhood. But when I look at him clearly, I see who he’s always been at his core: a loving, caring, sweet man. He means well. He’s funny. Sometimes a little dramatic. Sometimes not as thoughtful as I’d like him to be. And still—he’s doing the best he can. So am I. At the end of it all, there’s love. One of the greatest gifts my father gave me was a reverence for nature and an understanding of balance in the universe. As early as I can remember, we walked together—side by side, talking and not talking, learning the rhythm of the world through trees, light, and silence. Those walks were where we connected most honestly. So it felt only right to capture him doing the very thing we bonded over my entire life. Watching him move through that space now, nearly 80 years old, felt like time folding in on itself—past and present meeting in a single frame. It was an honor to have him visit. An honor to witness him there. And a quiet joy to know we still share that ground. I will always and forever be grateful.
