Trying to make my braids as challenging as possible. Great. So a year ago I came across this corset braid on Instagram (I'm afraid I dunno the stylist :\) and only now did I finally decide to try it out. And thank god I did. It's my favourite hairstyle to date. Here's how I did it: I bought 2m worth of a thin beige ribbon, of course I based this off of my hair length, you should alter this depending on whether your hair is shorter or longer than mine. For styling products I used the: TONI&GUY Wave Memorising Balm to smooth down the baby hair around my hair line, and the TONI&GUY Mens Styling Clay at the very start of the braid for more control as it had the perfect texture; sticky enough to get a good grip but not overly sticky. I would definitely recommend some form of balm or clay when doing this as you need the braid to be as slick as possible for the corset effect to really come through. I happen to like Toni & Guy because they're affordable but also very manageable. The braids are probably the trickiest part of this: the key if to work with small sections, and to always have a strong grip on the strands, hence the balm/clay. Keeping everything tight is basically the key to this look. When creating the corset, what worked for me is to always match the next 'loop' to the one parallel to it; keeping everything symmetrical is what creates the 'corset'.
