Wheat harvest with classics only in Mid Canterbury, New Zealand, 2026. A Massey Ferguson 760 and 860 are working together to cut the final field for the 2026 season down under. Both machines were developed and build during a time when Massey Ferguson was one of the leaders in combine harvester manufacturing. Sadly those days are now long gone. The 760 is a legendary model from MF, build in their Canadian Brantford factory. It was launched during the early 70s and quickly became one of the biggest combines available at the time. It uses a 180 HP Perkins AV8.540 engine that powers a 152x56 threshing drum and hydraulic drive. During the late 70s the line-up was modernised and the combines got a new styling with silver/grey cab and wheels. In 1981 the models 850 and 860 were introduced, which also sport an silver unloading auger and more electronics such as a loss monitor. Powerflow headers were available alongside updated standard headers. The threshing system and engine were unchanged, although the max HP was slightly higher. The 860 was later changed to the 865, which was the largest straw walker combine from MF until Massey Combine Corporation went bankrupt in 1988 and production seized. The wheat is carted in the field by a Case IH Magnum 8910 and home made trailer. This unloads on the head land in to an International T2670 truck that brings the wheat back to the farm. Here the auger is powered by a Nuffield 10/60. It first has to pass through a drier as the wheat wasn't quite dry after all the rain that this area received.
