Most branching stages in SW give you access to a green mission that determines which path you go on, but Yukimura HAS to go his top path first on the first playthrough. Shingen's death is only preventable after you've unlocked him and completed his story. So this battle pretty much has to go poorly no matter what you do. We get to see generic Tadakatsu for this stage. There are a lot of signs that SW1 was somewhat rushed in development and one especially evident one is that some of the generics never change color. The type Tadakatsu is and the strategist generic are always dressed in black/yellow regardless of force. Those generics have proper officer movesets. The generics that have changing colors actually have peon movesets, which you can tell by their stance/animations, their musou in particular. After this game, almost all generics have proper officer movesets, usually being the Sword/Spear movesets that can be seen here. There are a few exceptions, mostly ninja officers that use the peon ninja moveset. Ironically I don't believe there are any ninja generic officers in this game.
