There's a lot to go about these, i don't remember how old they are, but they became a thing after Mount Zinit got re-added into the game, at one point to continue climbing it you need to get an amulet that lets you swim in water, finally! But here's the catch, only the clear water is swimmable, the rest of the water is mixed in with Ogrest's tears and will kill you i guess? But being real that's just a way to limit your movement so they can trace a route for you to follow and not work on anything else you might see outside of them. They're present in all four nations, Astrub, Wild estate and Bilbiza (but that one is literally pointless) what are they for you ask? Well, to get 2 species of fish, precious stones and strawberries, that's it. Oh and some emotes that you can drop anywere/buy very cheap. Let's get the music out of the way first, very relaxing, has many moments of echo followed by silence, few instruments, emphasizes the fact you're all alone traversing the vast ocean. It makes me feel melancholy in a way, besides that overwhelming solitude it's the fact that you're seeing the remains of what the chaos did, all of this water used to be beautiful plains, the world is a lot smaller now. Somehow the music doesn't get old that fast, to get the footage for this video i had to slowly swim through all of them with the music on, but it still sounds nice. Now let's get to the rant, the potential here is immense, this world just went through a great flooding that changed it entirely, it's the whole reason Wakfu is different from Dofus, but while Dofus has Sufokian depths and several areas in the ocean floor near Frigost, this game instead does this, and when there's a chance to get underwater like the recent Ocean prison area, the water is moved to the sides so you're on a waterless ocean area, amazing. The absolute size of the routes too, they're so big, if you fill the space they're taking up with ground instead you'd get nations almost the size of the old ones, but all you get while swimming in them is 1 or 2 rocks on repeat, an ocassional patch of grass with a strawberry and some "special" bigger patches of ground with fish and rocks. There's several shots of the interest points on these routes in the video, but let that sink in, these are all of them, out of the entirety of the Maritime routes on every nation and island, this is the meat of them in terms of visual interest. If only there was something else to discover by swimming (extremely slowly mind you) an absurd amount of time, hell, even diving, there's a perfectly functional scuba diving mechanic that's used once in the main quest and never again. I have a post on all of this on the forums, it's a long one but i can't keep it short, swimming and all things water related in this game are surprisingly underwhelming, and the mobility being half of the normal walking speed is just the cherry on top, like they're wanting us to not wanna explore. Oh, the elephant in the room, the Mysterious house in the last shots is a thing in Amakna's maritime route, the smallest nation route but the one with the most interesting points. And inside it is again a painfully painfully long long labyrinth that once you clear you get a whooping title and a small room for you haven bag, which sounds neat, but the requirement to enter the house is completing the whole main quest and the Turquoise dofus sidequest after it, which requires lvl 215 minimum and some high stakes. So good luck ever seeing it in person. Locations: Maritime Route (EN) Ruta Maritima (ES) Route Maritime (FR) Monster Families: Crocobur is fightable. Doesn't drop anything but he's there. **Music and Imagery seen here is from the Wakfu MMORPG owned by Ankama Games, the only purpose of this video is to share the music and visuals of the game for everyone to enjoy.
