Hello all! This is our video from the launch event of the UK Asian Film Festival (March 14-31). There are more than 50 films, talks and concerts taking place over these 17 days and it all began with a glittering launch event, including some special awards (see our Instagram here) and a sumptuous dinner all at The May Fair Hotel in central London. The awards recognise the achievements of women in film and the arts and mark 20 years of the festival. Started by Dr Pushpinder Chowdhry MBE, it began as a women orientated festival, known as Tongues on Fire. It was then the London Asian Film Festival, and is now the UK Asian Film Festival. This video contains interviews with many of the personalities’ whose films are showing - and in some cases - premiering at the fest. The interviewees are: Simi Garewal (major Bollywood personality); Amy Jackson (Bollywood’s favourite Brit); Mahira Khan (Pakistani and Bollywood star); Sanam Saeed (star), Aamina Sheikh (star), Sudha Bhuchar (founder of Tamasha Theatre Company); Jamila Massey (actor and diversity champion) and finally, founder Dr Pushpinder Chowdhry.
