Are you living a life of awe? According to speaker and author Jeffrey Shaw, you can be—but not if you’re trying to go it alone. He uses the African concept of Ubuntu to illuminate the Validation Paradox: we need others to reach our full potential. “When we dream alone, even our biggest goals are too small,” says Shaw. We all have closets to come out of—ways that we’re bigger than we let on; to break free of limiting expectations we have to let others see us for all we are. Shaw’s talk is an invitation to throw open the door and embrace the bigger, brighter, and bolder life waiting on the other side. Jeffrey, a.k.a. the Lingo Guy, has been one of the most sought-after portrait photographers in the United States for more than three decades. He believes that having a keen eye isn’t just for what one sees, but also for what one senses. In his latest book “Lingo” he teaches how he has honed his intuition to attract and maintain specific markets by speaking their ‘secret language’. He is also the host of the popular business podcast Creative Warriors, a nationally acclaimed keynote speaker, and a business coach for entrepreneurs. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
