In part 2 of this 3-part series, I am going to show you HOW I clean and prepare wood after using electricity to burn it! Be sure to SUBSCRIBE for your chance to win a WEEKLY GIVEAWAY! To purchase any of my builds, click here! https://www.etsy.com/shop/Steampunkys As always, It’s a wonderful day for a build, so lets get into it! When a wood burn is done via electricity, also known as a fractal burn, or Lichtenberg design, there are a few things to keep in mind when cleaning the wood. First – Understand that it is still a burn, even if it was started with electricity. So that means there will be soot remaining. Second – You need to remove the soot. I have found the best way to do this is with a low powered power washer and some wire brushes. However, if you don’t have a power washer, a hose will still work. It just means you will have to spend more time cleaning out the soot from the Lichtenberg burns with the wire brushes. Third – Ensure you allow the wood to fully dry after cleaning out before you try any of the other finishing techniques. For my fractal wood burned art, I like to set mine outside in the sunlight for a natural drying process, but if I need to, I have been known to use a heat gun to dry out the wood. The reason for this is to prevent any kind of mold or rotting to occur. Now if you found this video and information useful, please do me a quick favor!
