Another Tech Tip from the field! After a massive refit of One Ocean, the boat that is circumnavigating North & South America covering 27,000 NW, we had a big problem on the first day. The engine coolant all drained out of the engine and it started overheating which was unknown to the crew because the high temperature alarm didn't work. The temperature gauge was functioning and getting very high along with the high temperature light but no audible alarm!! This could have stopped this expedition before it even started - YIKES!!!! This quick video shows how to test your alarm on your engine. By the way, even though this is a marine Yanmar engine - this tip would work on any gasoline or diesel motor in a machinery or equipment you may have.
