Tilting at the Windmills of Sustainability Econometrics Yu, Cecilia W. & Fournier, Aimé 8th International Conference on Sport, Education and Society Kemer, Antalya, Turkey 🇹🇷 This open source presentation was delivered at the 8th International Conference on Sport, Education and Society, hosted by the International Science, Culture and Sport Association in Kemer, Antalya, Turkey. In this talk, Cecilia W. Yu and Aimé Fournier present their 2025 research: “Tilting at the Windmills of Sustainability Econometrics with Empirically Maximally Diverse Arts based Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH): New, not just novel, approaches to Stochastic Sustainability and the Economics of Intangibles in the Arts.” Inspired in part by Don Quixote, the paper questions whether integrating arts and Intangible Cultural Heritage into econometric sustainability models is idealistic, realistic or necessary. The authors argue that rigorous, empirically grounded and maximally diverse methodologies can move the economics of intangibles from metaphor to measurable stochastic modelling. The research connects: • Sustainability Econometrics • Arts based Intangible Cultural Heritage • Sports, Education and Society • Cultural and Creative Economies • Social and Economic Development • STEM to STEAM+ frameworks • UN Sustainable Development Goals Presented in Kemer on the Mediterranean coast, the symbolic windmill setting provided an unexpectedly fitting backdrop for a discussion about persistence, sustainability and rethinking orthodox economic assumptions. The work was well received and generated strong multi-disciplinary discussion among international scholars across arts, sport, education, economics and sustainability research communities.
