Some research requires speed, skill, and determination—especially when tagging a free-swimming adult female whale shark! 🌊🦈 In this thrilling footage, a scientist swims full speed to catch up with a massive whale shark, successfully deploying a satellite tag on her dorsal fin. But the mission isn’t over yet! After tagging, both divers work hard to keep pace and capture photo identification from both sides of the shark, ensuring we can track her movements and recognize her as an individual. The satellite tag will provide critical data—not just her location and migration routes, but also dive depth, water temperature, and environmental conditions she experiences. Combined with photo ID, this data helps us unravel the mysteries of these elusive giants and develop the conservation strategies needed to protect them. 📍 Filmed in: Galapagos Islands 🎵 Music by: www.bensound.com 📢 Help us protect whale sharks!
