Tara Polar Station: A look back at the first sail to Lorient!

After 18 intense months of construction at the Construction Mécaniques de Normandie shipyard in Cherbourg, Tara Polar Station has embarked on a key stage of her adventure: her very first sail to her home port, Lorient. 💙 Leaving on April 10 with 17 people on board, Tara Polar Station arrived in Lorient on the 13th to join the schooner Tara and prepare for her christening. This inaugural navigation, under ideal weather conditions, was an opportunity to observe the ship's excellent seaworthiness. ❄️🌞 💡 This convoy marks a transition: from the shipyard to the official delivery and use of the vessel by the foundation's teams. Now it's time for life on board: a spacious, comfortable and technical environment, designed to welcome scientists from all over the world, artists in residence and on-board journalists, in the best possible conditions during the future polar expeditions of this drifting laboratory. One page is turned, another is written with 20 years of research in the heart of the Arctic Ocean 🧊 🔧 A huge bravo to all those who have made this technical challenge possible, on land and at sea!
