Here is a quick video showing how to replace the automatic transmission fluid pan in a 2009 Hyundai Sonata (2.4L motor). This should apply to 2.4L Sonatas built between 2005 and 2010. You'll need the following: 10mm, 12,mm and 13mm sockets (1/4 or 3/8) 1/4 inch and 3/8 ratchets 1/4 inch torque wrench (inch pounds) 3/8 torque wrench Miscellaneous extensions At least four (4) quarts of transmission fluid (Valvoline max life multi-car is good, anything should work as long as it meets the Hyundai SPIII spec) Permatex Automatic transmission RTV Sealant (Amazon affiliate link - https://amzn.to/40Yv8Fs) Torque specs are as follows: Transmission drain plug: 20-24 ft/lbs (this worked for me but per ALL-Data, you can go between 28-36 ft/lbs). Go with a lower spec and tighten if needed. Transmission pan bolts: 9.4 - 10.8 ft/lbs (112.8 - 129.6 inch/lbs) Part numbers: Transmission pan: 45283-3A200 Bolts (x15): 11405-06126-K Transmission drain plug gasket: 21513-11000 You don't necessarily need new bolts (mine were fine albeit a bit rusty) however, since your pan is rusting out, the odds that some bolts are rusty as well is high. I probably only had to replace the bottom few bolts but they are cheap so why not replace them all.
