The Lovers of Teruel (Les amants de Teruel) English CC

(Turn on captions for English subtitles) The 1962 surrealist French ballet film by Raymond Rouleau, "The Lovers of Teruel (Les amants de Teruel)", based on a medieval Spanish legend about star-crossed lovers. Starring Ludmilla Tchérina ("The Red Shoes"), with music by Mikis Theodorakis ("Zorba the Greek"), cinematography by Claude Renoir (grandson of the French impressionist Pierre-Auguste Renoir) and choreography by Milko Šparemblek, who also dances the role of Manuel. The film was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the 1962 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Technical Grand Prize. My main source is the video uploaded to YouTube by Michael Hensing (thank you!) and the pan-and-scan 4:3 commercial VHS released by Kultur Films. Five minutes were cut from the end of Mr. Hensing's version. They've been restored with footage from the Kultur video. Subtitles were transcribed from the Kultur version. Many other minor adjustments and corrections were made. I don't own the rights to this film. The production company shut down decades ago and all the principals involved in the making of the film have passed away. No one seems to be enforcing copyrights to the film. I assume that the copyrights have lapsed and the film is now in the public domain. If anyone knows otherwise, please let me know. I would love to find out who owns the rights to this film.
