Alright?! WOAH… this is a BIG one! Wanna see a rare woodpecker? I’m birding solo in the New Forest searching for Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, one of the UK’s rarest woodpeckers, listening for that unmistakable drumming echoing through the trees. After scanning the canopy and following the sound… I finally get views. And just when I’m buzzing from that — a Goshawk cruises above the forest?! One of the fiercest birds of prey in the UK! Throw in a Great Grey Shrike, Merlin and Woodlark and this becomes one of my BEST birding days EVER!
