It's the Forest of Bowland National Landscape's smallest recognised hill, making it an ideal walking location for the everyday walker. Starting from Scorton, Lancashire, there's a fantastic 3 mile circular route you can do to scale Nicky Nook - we recommend starting from Snow Hill Lane, where there's carpark spaces provided by Wyresdale Park, as well as some additional roadside spaces further up the road beyond the carpark. Nicky Nook is popular with dog walkers, where their dogs can be off-lead for the most part (unless there are sheep up on the fell itself). Cafes worth visiting before / after your walk: Applestore Cafe, especially if you are using the Wyresdale Park carpark (owners of Applestore). The Barn @ Scorton - back down in the village. Brilliant dining hall, gift shop and more. Unfortunately the main diner is no dogs allowed, but there is some seating outdoors, as well as a new indoor american-style diner section (this might be dog friendly as of 2024?)
