K70 - a short lived family saloon that was originally designed by the firm that built the revolutionary Wankel engined Ro 80. When Volkswagen bought NSU and merged them with Auto Union in 1969 to create Audi, they opted to rebadge the NSU K70 as a VW. This was the first front-engined, front wheel drive, water cooled Volkswagen as a result having otherwise produced rear-engined, rear wheel drive air cooled vehicles. While the Majorette model lasted from 1973 to 1976, the real car was in production between 1970 and 1975. It had to run alongside the Type 4 it was supposed to replace for the first two years of its life before its replacement, the Passat arrived in 1973. It is an excellent casting with a beautifully crafted polished metal base and it restored just the way I wanted (save for some small gouges in the rear window). The real car has quite the background too, making this a very pleasing restoration all round. Music by Karl Casey @ White Bat Audio Hackers • 80s Retrowave / Synthwave Music - Hackers ...
