Watch this impactful keynote speech titled “KidsToxLK: Strengthening Paediatric Poison Information Services in Sri Lanka,” delivered by Professor Kavinda Dayasiri at the Middle East and North Africa Medical Toxicology Conference (MENATOX) 2026. Professor Dayasiri is a Consultant Paediatrician at Colombo North Teaching Hospital, Professor in Paediatrics at the University of Kelaniya, and Director of the KidsToxLK Children’s Poison Information and Research Center. In this presentation, Professor Dayasiri highlights the urgent need for strong, child-focused poison information services in low- and middle-income countries. He outlines how KidsToxLK addresses the unique patterns of childhood poisoning and snakebite in Sri Lanka by providing real-time, context-specific toxicology guidance to clinicians, alongside prevention-focused education for caregivers and communities. The talk emphasises improving clinical decision-making, reducing preventable injuries, and strengthening national paediatric toxicology capacity. MENATOX 2026 brought together leading experts in medical toxicology from across the Middle East, North Africa, and beyond, including delegates from Syria, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, Sudan, and other countries. The conference featured discussions on emerging toxicology challenges such as pesticide exposure, snakebite envenoming, paediatric poison prevention, and the development of effective poison control systems, fostering regional and global collaboration. KidsToxLK gratefully acknowledges the technical support of the NIHR Right-4 initiative, which aims to reduce deaths from poisoning in low- and middle-income countries. #kidstoxlk #kidstox #MENATOX2026 #PaediatricToxicology #PoisonPrevention #childhealth #MedicalToxicology #universityofkelaniya #professorkavindadayasiri #PoisonInformationServices #LMICs #snakebite #publichealth #globalhealth #srilanka #NIHRRight4
