Robert De Niro and Michael Mann talk about Heat diner scene!

I've been waiting almost 20-years to ask Michael Mann and Robert De Niro about the famous diner scene in "Heat" between De Niro and Pacino. I was always fascinated by Mann's choice to never show an establishing/wide shot of the scene. The shots are primarily over the shoulder shots and you never get to see the two actors' faces on screen during the scene. Remember, this was the first time De Niro and Pacino were going to be appear in a movie together since "The Godfather Part II." We all know that they never appeared on screen in that film considering their characters were in two completely different decades. I finally had the chance to ask Mann about his choice to shoot the scene that way and I also was able De Niro to confirm that he and Pacino were there together for the scene.
