An excerpt from a 1925 ad: "John Bagley created a marvelous Aroma YEARS ago... oh, many years ago.... John Bagley of Ole Virginny perfected a wonderful blend of pipe tobacco. Buckingham he called it, Sir... and never did tobacco have so sweet and pleasant an aroma. Even the ladies liked its irresistible fragrance... no reproving household voice was raised when the master filled his pipebowl with golden Buckingham! We've brought this marvelous Buckingham back from its rich and romantic tobacco past. . . your dealer now has it. Sun cured ... as John Bagley cured it. Blended... as John Bagley blended it. Aged... as John Bagley aged it. Fragrant and sweet as of yore!" Friends, let’s take another journey to yesteryear and open up a magnificent tin of Buckingham Bright Cut Plug Pipe Tobacco from the 1940s. This blend, along side Lucky Strike Tobacco, made up the famous original iteration of Half and Half Pipe Tobacco. It was originally made by John J. Bagley and then was succeeded by The American Tobacco Company before being discontinued. It features one of the most striking and visually pleasing works of tin art I have ever seen. This piece of pipe smoking history was a real treat to experience and I'm proud to agree with the ad above. The tobacco was still moist and perfect for smoking. Sweet, earthy, and pleasant with a light floral honey like essence. I hope you enjoy watching and thank you for your support of my channel!
