The province of Kampot is found in Southern Cambodia its known for its unique charm and colonial architecture. The population of the province is just over 600,000 people. As for the population of town that’s harder to say as there hasn’t been census for nearly 10 years. In 2012 it was just under 50,000 people, but it would be much more than that now. It’s not just Cambodians many expats have made it their home. Most of the people in Kampot practice Buddhism, however around 5% are Christians and 8% are Cham Muslims. There are so many things that make this small town so charming including the picturesque river, friendly people and surrounding majestic mountains. Kampot province is one of the most popular places to visit for local tourists, for people who come from Phnom Penh it is just around a 3-hour drive so usually there are a lot of local tourists that come to visit here for the weekend.
