The Arctic cold plunge of 2026 is officially behind us, and with frost no longer in the forecast, it’s time to see what actually made it. In this video, I start with my side garden guava hedge, pulling back frost cloth and mulch to take an honest look at how everything handled the freeze. Some plants came through without issue, others took damage, and a few may need time to tell. In this episode: • Pineapple guava performance after the freeze • Strawberry guava uncovered and evaluated • African blue basil and Tulsi basil outcomes • Camellia blooms and cold tolerance • A scratch test on a stressed Ruby Supreme guava • What mulch and frost cloth helped — and what didn’t This is part of a short series where I walk through each garden area now that winter is over, documenting real-world cold resilience in a Gulf South food forest and landscape setting. If you’re gardening in a warm climate that occasionally gets hit with real cold, this series should give you a clearer picture of what actually survives. 👉 Check the playlist for the rest of the After the Arctic Freeze garden checks: • After the Arctic Air - 2026 👍 Like and subscribe if you want updates as things refoliate (or don’t).
