Hi everyone! If you've ever made fused dichroic dots, you know how it can sometimes be challenging to get your dichroic design to the edges, as while the glass will move, the dichroic coating (being metal), not so much. This can result in your dichroic design staying somewhat square just inside the nice roundness you get from the dot firing. I typically made my dichroic dots just stacking small squares, dichroic down first (usually) and a clear cap over it. I've worked with creating slabs of dichroic on black, and clear capped in the past but usually for cutting into larger pieces for pendants. I decided to try this same idea for making dots to see if they would come out nicer and more to the edges of the finished round dots. I tried two different ways of creating the slab, second attempt to get a bit thinner result. Spoiler alert! I had great success with both methods. You'll see a quick reveal in the video opening, stick around to the end if you want to see the full process. Firing schedules used for the slabs as well as the dots are at the end of the video. Below are some links for the findings for which I am making the dots. Some were from Michael's, others Amazon. (I like those from Michael's better, most had a flat pad with the exception of some hair ties.) Please note, I am not currently affiliated with anyone, and this is not a paid promotion. I just wanted to share the sources if you are interested. As always, thanks for watching! If you like this video, please give it a thumbs-up and subscribe to find out what I will be working on next!
